About CrossFit

Crossfit is a functional fitness program done in a group setting. It incorporates 10 basic elements of fitness. (Cardiovascular Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy) CrossFit is elite fitness for everyone. Your Grandma can do it and your Pro-Surfer friend can do it. Both at the same time! CrossFit is an extremely efficient and effective way to get into great shape. Our workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements (like pushups and pullups, deadlifts, squats, gymnastics, kettlebells, running, rowing, and olympic lifting), executed at high intensity.  The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and a CrossFit veteran can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity. CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenal fitness in and of themselves or as a complement to your sport-specific training regime.

CrossFit is for anyone, regardless of their age or fitness level. In short, if you care about health, real-world performance, or just want to look better at the beach, CrossFit is for you. There is no need to “get-in-shape” first and then come to CrossFit. We will take care of that here for you!

We promise you will be fine. We’ve had a lot of people come in the door who were fatter, weaker, older, and less coordinated than you are, and they were fine.

While we are not physicians (and we highly recommend you discuss any workout program with yours), we do find that many CrossFitters have successfully used CrossFit to rehabilitate from injuries. Because people continue to move, work, and play in the real world regardless of injury history, we believe the best route to long-term health is to learn perfect form on functional movements, and to slowly build strength in those movements, rather than to avoid them altogether. Our coaches are always happy to work with you to scale and substitute exercises and tailor workouts to your abilities. That said, we cannot offer you specific medical advice, and advise that you consult your physician before starting this (or any other) exercise program.

All new CrossFitters will be asked to attend our Foundations program. This four class foundation series will cover the basics of CrossFit. You will practice good form on the movements that make up our workouts, learn how to scale movements appropriate for your own level, and start ramping up your fitness with a CrossFit workout at the end of each class. These CrossFit Foundations classes will start at the beginning of each month. We run these 4 classes in a progression so we highly recommend not missing class as you may have to catch up with the next group of foundations before moving on.  Contact us for scheduling.

I have not done CrossFit, but I’m really fit and would like to skip the Foundations Class and just sign up for a Workout of the Day membership. Can I do that?

We require everyone to take Foundations, so that we can make sure all of our members have a basis of safe and effective movement. You can also attend two 1 1/2 hour personal training sessions with one of our coaches. At the end of those sessions your coach and I will discuss about you jumping in to group classes.

Yes, we do have a few rules. Please come early to class. Especially if you are visiting. Please bring no pets to Kilauea CrossFit. That includes leaving them in your vehicle. The owner of the property has two Neapolitan Mastiffs and while friendly to CrossFitters we are not sure if they like CrossFitter’s pets.  We have a room where your child can color, read, watch a movie or play legos. We currently do not have child care so please do not bring unsupervised, unruly children. If your child is roaming around the gym you will be be asked to supervise them yourself and you will miss out on the workout.  Children are not to play on or with any equipment in the gym. Our insurance does not cover that.  Please clean up after yourself and put your gear away. This is your gym so please respect it. When exiting the gym, please drive slow on the driveway and when turning on to the highway, PLEASE make a right turn only on to the highway.  If you need to go to Princeville, turn around at the roundabout by the mini-golf.

Hello my husband and I will be staying in Princeville for 10 days (July 13-23rd) and was wondering what the weekly rate would be for couples? We also have our own programming, would we be able to do that during open gym time and is that allowed at your gym? Thanks!

Aloha! My family and I will be in Hanalei from July 16th – 24th. My two teenage boys and I wouid like to get four or five workouts in during that time. I am an experienced ex-pro football player (now a “has been”) and typically train my kids on my own. We do all the Olympic lifts but not CrossFit classes per se. Do you have open gym hours and what wouid our fee be for the three of us?

I’ll be visiting Kauai this week and would like to come daily if my schedule allows and to do the open WOD. My home box is Crossfit Fort Vancouver in Vancouver, Washington. I have read that I can just drop in, but wanting to make sure the schedule listed is the normal weekly schedule and wondering the distance from Princeville to your location. Thank you for verifying these things! I look forward to working out with some locals and possibly visiting crossfitters.

Is there a problem with beginners being slower than the regulars? I wouldn’t want to hold up people who are moving faster thru the set. Any info on how this works is appreciated. Thanks!
